Earlier this year, the Brooklyn based artist completed a public project at Five Bryant Park. Watch the video below to join Mignanelli, a team of professional art installers, the curator, and his gallerist as they tackle the installation. Then step back into Mignanelli’s East Williamsburg studio as he finishes up the site-specific works and walks you through his deliberately chosen colors, methods, materials.
By deconstructing and reconstructing the paintings, Mignanelli began to channel the legacies of Josef Albers and Barnett Newman. The works further took on the aesthetics of Bauhaus architecture as Mignanelli’s unblemished and mechanical line work took shape.
More than just paintings, they are surface studies for points in time that we all deserve.
On view through November 2020
